This khopesh is believed to have belonged to a legendary dragonborn who led a rebellion against her draconic overlords in a past age. Engraved on the blade in Draconic are the words "Fend off the enemy, Sing out the jubilee, With all the fire we can breathe". Avriel grants its wielder a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls with it as well as a +2 bonus to the wielder's AC as it subtly helps direct your attacks and parries.
As a bonus action you can grant an ally that can hear you the ability to breath fire. They can use a bonus action to exhale fire at a target within 30 feet of them. The target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The effect ends after the creature exhales fire three times or after 1 hour has passed. A creature can't benefit from this feature again until it finishes a long rest.
While this weapon is treated as sentient with an Intelligence of 16, it does not speak or otherwise communicate with the wielder. Instead it judges their actions and will only attune to a character it deems worthy. Such a character must at least be of good alignment and must do all it can to free those in subjugation and defeat those who subjugate them. If the weapon finds a person unworthy it will deny them attunement, and unattune to them if a character's actions change after the fact. Those found unworthy can not wield or even move it.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Bonus: Armor Class, bard or bladesinger wizard, Damage, Combat, Finesse, Light, Vex
