Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement by a creature taking a long rest. )

A large collection of colourful metal beads. Must be braided into a whip to be used.

The collection contains 13 (2d12) Red Beads, 13 (2d12) Orange Beads, 9 (2d8) Green Beads, 11 (2d10) Blue Beads, and 5 (2d4) Purple Beads. These enchanted beads can be used in combination with any whip. These beads are each single use, and will dissipate after the effect granted by them has taken place. This will only take place in the case of a successful melee attack with the whip against a creature, at which point the desired effect will occur. The creature may not make a saving throw against the effect of the beads. In the case of a missed attack, no bead is expended. Each colour of bead grants a different effect.

  • Red Beads. Deal an extra 5 (1d10) fire damage to the target. The target is set aflame, and will take an extra 5 (1d10) fire damage at the beginning of each of its turns for 1 minute, or until the flame is doused.
  • Orange Beads. The target takes an additional 7 (2d6) radiant damage.
  • Green Beads. A thick and tangible gas fills the mouth and throat of the target, making breathing difficult. The target loses the ability to take a reaction, and gains disadvantage on all saving throws and ability checks for the next minute. At the end of each of its turns, the target may make a DC 14 constitution saving throw to attempt to expel the gas via coughing, but a failure will result in 9 (2d8) poison damage.
  • Blue Beads. The bead shatters in a small explosion of shrapnel. The target takes 7 (2d6) piercing damage, and an additional 4 (1d8) force damage.
  • Purple Beads. Hold person is cast on the target. As well as failing the initial saving throw, the target will have disadvantage on all saving throws against this effect.

Notes: creature taking a long rest.
