Description: This seemingly bottomless inkwell is filled with a luminous, ever-shifting ink that glimmers with contained spells and arcane knowledge. Crafted by an ancient society of spellcasters, the inkwell is encased in a material that feels both solid and ephemeral to the touch.
Features:
-
Efficient Scribing: A spellcaster using this inkwell to scribe spells into their spellbook finds that the ink flows effortlessly, halving the usual time and gold required for transcription.
-
Rune of Power: Once per day, the user can inscribe a rune of power onto a non-living surface. This rune lasts for 8 hours and activates a single spell of the user’s choice when a specified condition is met, such as the presence of an intruder. The spell is cast at its lowest level, and the condition must be something that can be detected within 30 feet of the rune. For example, inscribing a rune that casts "Fireball" when an unauthorized person enters a room.
-
Guardian's Script: In addition to defensive spells, the inkwell can be used to inscribe runes that summon barriers or illusions, adding layers of protection or misdirection around valuable items or locations. These runes can also cast "Alarm" or "Silence" under specific conditions to alert the caster or hinder adversaries.
-
Curse of Overreach: The inkwell's power tempts users to protect all they value with layers of magical defenses. However, excessive use of the inkwell’s rune-casting ability without proper rest (more than once per day) risks attracting unwanted attention from otherworldly entities intrigued by the magical emissions. Users may find themselves the target of these beings' curiosity or ire.
