The Anima Cage appears to look like a black thurible. It exudes a green sickly light from within. You have a +3 to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.
Collect Souls. While wielding this weapon, when a creature with a soul you can see dies within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to collect that soul and capture it within the Anima Cage. You regain one charge when you do so.
Consume Souls. As an action, while wielding this weapon you can choose to expend the power of the souls collected within the thurible to grant yourself temporary hitpoints equal to 5 times the number of charges you choose to expend. These temporary hitpoints last until depleted or until you gain temporary hitpoints again.
Sentient Curse. The Anime Cage holds within it the spirit of a necromancer. This necromancer hungers for the souls of the departed and can talk to you telepathically, encouraging you to find more souls for him to consume. When The Anima cage has 0 charges you suffer a point of exhaustion as the necromancer begins to syphon your soul in order to satiate their endless hunger. You are unaware of the curse until you have attuned to the item. Once attuned you no longer wish to part with the Anima Cage and the power it gives you, you also feel the need to hide your knowledge of the curse from others.
If Remove Curse is used on the thurible the necromancer inside will attempt to block the magic. Make a contested d20 roll + your spellcasting ability modifier. The necromancer has a +5 spellcasting ability modifier. On a success the curse as well as the necromancer inside are destroyed and the thurible becomes a Moonlight Thurible. On a failure the magic has no effect and the curse remains on the item.
Proficiency with a Flail allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
