Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement by a Balisius or a creature that worships it)

Annagenesi is the name given to the paired weapons (a longsword and a spear) wielded by Balisius, the god of rebirth. Balisius was a warrior of legendary talent, and its weapons saw the downfall of foes uncounted, but they were lost in a grand and punishing battle against Erasuul, god of chaos, where both weapons were presumed lost as Balisius thrusted them into the heart of its opponent and left them to fester within. No one truly knows whether Balisius or Erasuul survived their showdown, but what is known is that the god of rebirth's weapons still exist, but only its followers have a chance of manifesting the power they contain.

You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the longsword half of Annagenesi. Damage inflicted by Annagenesi also reduces a creature's maximum hit points, such an affliction can only be cured by a greater restoration spell or similar magic. If damage inflicted by Annagenesi reduces a creature to 0 hit points, or if a creature drops to 0 hit points while its hit points have been reduced by Annagenesi, the creature's body turns to dust and its soul is sent to the kingdom of dust, the home dimension of Balisius, where it will be reincarnated as one of the various beasts of rebirth found within the kingdom. If you are wielding both the longsword and the spear halves of Annagenesi, both weapons gain the light and finesse properties, they both count as only a single magic item for the purposes of attunement (choose 1 to attune to, for as long as you are attuned to it you are considered to be attuned to the other), and after you use your action or bonus action to attack with either weapon, you can make 1 additional attack with the other weapon. If you make an attack with Annagenesi as a bonus action because of the light property, you may still add your ability modifier to the damage roll. If a character attuned to either or both Annagenesi is reduced to 0 hit points their body turns to dust and their soul is sent to the kingdom of dust, specifically to the throne room of Balisius itself, where it will judge their actions and decide their ultimate fate. Often it will turn the character into one of its avatars, or simply banish them to the kingdom's wastelands to turn into a beast of rebirth.

The longsword half of Annagenesi also has a special attack. As an action, the character wielding it can launch a devastating sweep attack. Make an attack roll for every creature within a 10 foot cone in front of the character, with an additional +3 to the attack rolls. This special attack cannot be performed again, but after performing it the attuned character can roll a d6 at the start of each of their turns. On a 5 or 6 the special attack is recharged and can be used again.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
