"A gruesome fetish created from what remains of the spinal column of a long dead god. Crafted by one of Bhaal's oldest worshippers as a sign of true devotion. A chain runs through the spine, where marrow once was, each spinal segment separated and carved into teeth, fashioned to rip flesh apart. A release mechanism was inserted into the sword right on the handle, allowing the chain to flow freely, making this weapon into a whip-sword, never allowing the wielder's next victim to escape.
A piece of this god's heart lays embedded in the center of the cross-guard, preserved as some twisted decoration, the vitality of the once divine being is still able to be felt, yet slowly fading."
Chain of Fileting: as a bonus action, the user releases the chain from it's confinement, extending the whip, the weapon gains the "Reach" property while retaining the damage properties of a Longsword. The user may use a bonus action to retract the chain and turn the sword back into a regular Longsword if they wish.
Bhaal's Welcome: as a bonus action, the user extends the chain and whips it forward, blades singing eagerly as they rocket forward, excited to bite into new flesh. Make a melee weapon attack against any one target within 15 feet. On hit, the teeth of the whip-sword bite into the flesh of the target, causing 1d8+your strength or dexterity modifier, your choice, slashing damage. If the target is of medium size or lower, they are reeled in by the chain, moving in a straight line directly towards you, this forced movement does not provoke opportunity attacks. If the target is of large size or higher, they must make an Acrobatics or Athletics check against your own, whatever is higher for the both of you. If you succeed, the target is pulled. If they succeed, they are not pulled, but still suffer the damage. This ability may be used once per short rest, or while under the effect of "Bhaal's Bargain". If used while the sword is not extended from the usage of "Chain of Fileting", this weapon now counts as extended, and gains the "Reach" property while retaining the damage properties of a Longsword.
Bhaal's Bargain: Spending your action beating your heart with the hilt of the sword, Bhaal notices you, and wishes to play a game. Energy and hunger flow through the blade, for 1 minute you may use the sword's "Bhaal's Welcome" ability every turn while under the effect. The newfound hunger granted to your sword causes it to move on it's own, craving flesh, when under the effect of this ability, you are granted an extra attack, this stacks with any pre-existing abilities that grant an extra attack, such as pact of the blade's thirsting blade invocation or the extra attack feature of many classes. If the user does not kill anything while under the effect of this ability, they take 4d6 necrotic damage as penance, this damage may not be prevented or reduced in any way. After using Bhaal's Bargain, the user may choose to immediately take a melee weapon attack against any target within 10ft, automatically extending the blade if needed. The damage dealt is whatever the normal damage of this sword would be if using the attack action.
Divine Husk's Finesse: The remnants of divine power that surged through these bones give the carved edges of this sword a mind of their own for finding weak points, the number required to score a critical hit on an attack roll is reduced by 1, this ability stacks with any other feature that increases critical chance.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
