Attunement: Once the Spear is in your possession, the would-be attuner must confront their own inner darkness and embrace the corrupted essence of the weapon. This involves acknowledging and accepting the darker aspects of their personality, as well as their willingness to wield such a malevolent artifact.
1. Darkened Silver: The Spear is crafted from a rare, darkened silver alloy, granting it a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
2. Essence of Shadow: Once per day, the wielder can cast the Darkness spell centered on a point within 30 feet of them, using their Wisdom modifier as the spellcasting ability modifier.
3. Aura of Malevolence: Enemies within 10 feet of the wielder at the start of their turn must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of their next turn. Once used, this property cannot be used again until the next dawn.
4. Engravings of Despair: When the spear lands a critical hit against a creature, the target must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or suffer disadvantage on their next attack roll or saving throw, representing their shaken resolve in the face of despair.
5. Corrupting Influence: When the wielder reduces a creature to 0 hit points with the Spear, they gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt by the attack, representing the Spear's ability to feed off the life force of its victims.
6. Divine Taint: If the wielder is a divine spellcaster, their spells gain an additional effect when cast while wielding the Spear. For example, a Cure Wounds spell may also grant temporary hit points equal to the spell's level to the target, representing the corrupting influence of the Spear's power.
7. Fallen Grace: Thrice per day, the wielder can call upon the corrupted essence of Avacyn to cause a wave of Blasphemy, centered on themselves, using their Wisdom modifier as the spellcasting ability modifier. This spell emits a wave of dark energy, causing harm to all enemies within 30 feet and potentially stunning or deafening them. Each creature in 30 ft of the caster must succeed a wisdom saving throw or be frightened and stunned for 1d4 rounds
