Wondrous Item, very rare

Wondrous Item (Feather)

This feather, harvested from the radiant plumage of the Azure Arcane Sparrow, resonates with potent magical energy. When affixed to an arrow, it imbues the projectile with the power of lightning, crackling with intense arcane power as it flies towards its target. Additionally, the feather itself holds residual magic, granting its wielder limited spellcasting abilities.

Description: The Arcane Feather is a delicate yet resilient feather, shimmering with a brilliant blue light that pulses with raw magical power. Despite its ethereal appearance, it feels solid and weighty in your hand, its magical energy humming with anticipation.

Mechanics: The Arcane Feather has four charges. As an action, you can expend one charge to affix the feather to an arrow before firing it. The arrow gains additional lightning damage equal to 2d6 + your proficiency bonus. Additionally, on a successful hit, the target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier) or suffer disadvantage on their next attack roll as they are momentarily stunned by the crackling energy.

Furthermore, you can expend one charge to cast one of the following spells from the feather, using your proficiency bonus as your spellcasting modifier:

  • Thunderwave: By channeling the feather's arcane energy, you can unleash a wave of thunderous force in a 15-foot cube originating from you, as per the Thunderwave spell.
  • Gust of Wind: The feather can summon a powerful gust of wind in a 60-foot line that is 10 feet wide, as per the Gust of Wind spell.

Once all charges have been expended, the Arcane Feather becomes a mundane feather. However, through a process of meditation and attunement with the natural world during a short or long rest, you can restore one expended charge to the Arcane Feather.
