An intricately-crafted work of art. These canes are used by nobility from the distant northern kingdom of Ardénie as a symbol of status, and assassins due to their capability of concealing bladed weapons alike.
Upon attunement, the appearance of the cane changes to suit the weapon slotted inside the cane, which serves as a sheath. If this item is attuned to by a rogue, it grants them one extra sneak attack die as long as it is on their person.
The wielder can spend a bonus action to activate (or deactivate) the cane if they're attuned to it. Upon doing so, the cane becomes the weapon's blade, taking whatever attributes of the original weapon. In addition to that, it isn't perceived as a weapon by the naked eye until used as such unless it is closely inspected. If a dagger is slotted inside the cane, it is granted the attributes of a shortsword.
When not in use, most of these canes are imbued with transmutation spells to change shape to that of a smaller object for ease of carry, such as a dagger sheath, a sceptre, etc.
The way the cane transforms into a weapon is up to the wielder. Maybe small, thin blades invisible to the naked eye are propped up from the cane's edges, or maybe a magic glowing sword is manifested whenever it is swung.
The wielder is proficient with it as long as they were proficient with the original weapon.
