Wondrous Item, uncommon

Description: This arrow is fletched with vibrant green feathers and its head is crafted from a hardened, glass-like material that contains a swirling, luminescent acid. When the arrow strikes a target, the head shatters, releasing the acid stored within.

Properties:

  • Acid Release: On a hit, the target takes normal arrow damage plus an additional 1d6 acid damage and lowers target's AC by 2 for 1 turn, as the arrowhead bursts and releases acid upon impact.
  • Corrosive Splash: When the arrow strikes a target or a hard surface, it bursts, splashing acid in a 5-foot radius. Creatures within this area must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature suffers an erosion of its protective gear, lowering its AC by 2 for 1 round due to the acid’s corrosive nature. On a successful save, the creature avoids the acid and maintains its current AC.
  • Ammunition: This arrow can be used with any bow. Once fired, regardless of whether it hits or misses, the arrow is destroyed due to the acid and material used to contain it.

Lore: Crafted by a reclusive alchemist for a famed archer, these arrows were originally designed for silently dispatching heavily armored guards by corroding their armor and causing chaos among tightly packed enemy troops.

Usage Tips: The Arrow of Acid is particularly effective against creatures vulnerable to acid or those wearing heavy armor. It can also be used strategically to create environmental hazards on the battlefield due to its corrosive nature.
