Aegis of Faith

 

This celestial shield, known as the Aegis of Faith, is a masterpiece of celestial craftsmanship. Crafted from purest gold and adorned with intricate patterns reminiscent of celestial constellations, it radiates a brilliant, ethereal glow, reminiscent of the heavenly bodies that adorn the night sky.

Divine Shield (1 reaction): When wielded, the Aegis of Faith empowers the bearer to summon forth a radiant barrier of celestial energy, enveloping them in a protective aura as a reaction.

As a reaction when targeted by an attack or harmful spell, the bearer can call upon the shield's Divine Shield ability. In an instant, the shield transforms into a radiant barrier of celestial energy, enveloping the bearer in an aura of protection. This barrier renders them immune to all forms of harm until the beginning of their next turn. However, invoking Divine Shield requires the bearer to channel their inner strength, expending the highest-level spell slot available to them.

Celestial Sacrifice (1 action): Additionally, the Aegis of Faith bestows upon the bearer the power of Celestial Sacrifice for 1 turn. Through fervent prayer to their deity, the bearer may beseech divine intervention in moments of dire need.  Within this sanctuary of celestial light, allies are shielded from harm, bathed in the radiance of protection in the form of a larger Divine Shield (15ft radius).

Celestial Sacrifice demands a heavy toll, requiring the bearer to offer half of their current life essence as a testament of their dedication and faith. 

If the bearer rolls a natural 20 on a d20 roll while invoking Celestial Sacrifice, their deity answers, allowing them to extend the protective aura of their shield without requiring the sacrifice of their life essence.

Used at 1hp, Celestial Sacrifice will keep the user conscious until the divine shield is removed. After that, the user will be rendered unconscious.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
