Armor (plate), legendary (requires attunement by a Paladin)

This set of midnight blue colored plate armor has been graced by the legendary paladin "Ardullin", the Blessed Bulwark. It is made from an alloy of unknown origin and is adorned with small bloodstones decorating the center of the breastplate. Large black feathers cover the pauldron, gauntlets and the backplate.

Temporal. While Ardullin is in a temporal state it has 4 charges and it regains 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn. While you are attuned to it you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a +1 bonus to AC
  • As a bonus action, you can expend 1 charge and extend Ardullins protective blessing to your allies, shielding them with black feathers. Until the start of your next turn, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you have half-cover.
  • As a reaction, when you or a creature that you can see within 10 feet of you is subjected to a spell or effect that targets an area (e.g. fireball or a dragons breath attack), you can expend 1 charge and grant that creature advantage on the saving throw.
  • As an action you can cast the death ward spell on yourself. Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until the next dawn.

Blessed. When Ardullin is in a blessed state a draconic rune forms on the breastplate spelling "Blessed Death". While you are attuned to it you gain the following benefits:

  • The armor has 10 charges and it regains 1d6+4 expended charges daily at dawn.
  • The bonus to your AC increases to +2
  • The range of both protective blessings increase to 30 feet.
  • You can grant advantage to the saving throw of multiple creatures within range, expending one extra charge per creature.
  • When a creature within 30 feet of you receives damage that would bring it to 0 hit points, you can use a reaction and invoke the "Blessed Death" rune. You redirect the damage to yourself, leaving the targeted creature unharmed. If this damage would drop you to 0 hit points, every non-hostile creature within 30 feet of you regains 3d8 + 5 hit points. Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until the next dawn.

Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
