The Aegis of Dread is a formidable and fearsome shield, crafted from a blend of dark iron and enchanted obsidian. The shield's surface is polished to a sinister sheen, reflecting light in a way that seems almost unnatural. Its edges are reinforced with intricate, jagged silver inlays that resemble twisted vines, hinting at its dark enchantments. The central part of the shield features an intricate design of withered, thorny branches, all of which glow faintly with a malevolent purple aura. Elven runes, etched in a ghostly silver, run along the outer rim, adding an aura of ancient and arcane power. When the shield's power is activated, the thorny design pulses with a dreadful light, emanating an aura of fear and dread.
When a creature misses you with a melee weapon attack while you are holding this shield, you can use your reaction to cause the shield to emanate a sense of dread. The attacker must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you until the end of its next turn.
While holding this shield, you have a +1 bonus to AC. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Combat, Warding
