Aegis of Heroes

The Aegis of Heroes is a small polished stone carved with abjuration runes of protection and humming with an arcane aura. When held by its chosen owner, the stone binds to their soul and becomes inseparable from them by any forceful means and is nothing more that a pretty rock in the hands of another creature. When the owner wields this stone in one hand, a mystical shield is projected from it, providing the same +2 AC benefit of a standard shield. The creature does not need to be proficient with shields to wield this item or receive any of its abilities but the do have to have the ability to cast the shield spell.

Protector of the People: When the wielder casts the shield spell they may change the target from self to any one other creature within 120ft radius of the caster.

No Better Defense: when the wielder cast the shield spell, the target of the spell gains evasion for as long as that casting of the shield spell is active.

Last Line of Defense: When the wielder's Arcane Ward is reduced to 0, the target of the Arcane Ward's protection will also receive all the effects and benefits of the shield spell until the start of their next turn..
