While using this compass, the user can detect magical properties other than itself and outside a 10-foot sphere from the compass up to 40 feet away. The compass glows with a green hue when active and with a nearby magical source. The compass does not point in a stable cardinal direction otherwise.
Using this item while unattuned also does not remain pointed at a cardinal direction.
