While on a crusade for the Church of Zarus, you come across a fleeing monk bearing this amulet. You attempt to subdue the monk in order to take him back to your archbishop as an offering to your god, but as you tackle him to the ground the amulet around his neck begins to hymn and call upon your true name. The voices enthralling your mind cause you to break away from your faith and brutally slaughter the man taking the amulet as your own. The amulet, bearing a single ruby crystal surrounded by a silver trim, reverberates in your hand and floods your mind with ideals and beliefs that are not your own until you succumb to the voices and fall into an induced sleep. You awake being carried by wagon back to your church wounded and dazed thinking the interaction with the monk was all a figment vision, but soon realizing the amulet was draped around your neck, silent, with no proof of it ever invading your mind.
