The All or Nothing Coin is a large, ancient coin made of darkened silver, with intricate engravings on both sides. One side depicts a triumphant figure holding a shining sword (heads), while the other shows a defeated, broken warrior (tails). The coin has a slight glow to it, pulsing faintly with an aura of uncertainty.
- This duplicitous coin can spell fortune or ruin for its owner. When making an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can flip a coin in place of rolling a d20.
- Heads is treated as a natural 20.
- Tails is treated as a natural 1.
- The coin cannot be used again until the next dawn.
The All or Nothing Coin was created by a powerful mage in Fabion during the height of the Blossom Tree War. This mage, known as Tarquin the Uncertain, was infamous for his wild gambles and unorthodox methods. He believed that fate could be influenced by the boldness of one's choices, and so he crafted the coin to embody this belief.
Legend has it that Tarquin used the coin in a pivotal battle against the Asukasa Shogunate, flipping it in the midst of the fray to decide the outcome of his most powerful spell. The coin landed on heads, and his spell turned the tide of battle, securing a crucial victory for Fabion. However, the coin's unpredictable nature soon led to Tarquin's downfall, as he relied on its fickle power once too often.
