Armor (shield), unknown rarity (requires attunement)

Originally a standard city guard's shield, the Aegis of the Devoted was transformed at the moment of Hux's death, infused with the spirit and unyielding desire of the fallen Warforged artificer to protect his allies. Crafted from sturdy steel, the shield retains its original design but now carries an aura of profound dedication and resilience.

The once simple and utilitarian surface is now adorned with intricate patterns and glowing runes, a testament to Hux's final act of arcane ingenuity. At its center, an emblem of a guardian standing resolute against a storm symbolizes the shield's new purpose. This emblem, surrounded by faintly glowing protective runes, pulsates with a soft, steady light, a constant reminder of Hux's enduring spirit.

The Aegis of the Devoted is no longer a mere inanimate object; it has become an animated shield with a will of its own, driven by Hux's last wish to safeguard those he cared for. While holding this shield, you can speak its command word as a bonus action to cause it to animate. The shield leaps into the air and hovers in your space to protect you as if you were wielding it, leaving your hands free. The shield remains animated for 1 minute, until you use a bonus action to end this effect, or until you are incapacitated or die, at which point the shield falls to the ground or into your hand if you have one free.

Despite its reinforced construction, the shield feels remarkably agile in the hands of its wielder. It is perfectly balanced and responsive, making it an invaluable asset in combat. The Aegis of the Devoted embodies Hux's final vow to protect his friends, serving as a constant and reliable guardian.

In the hands of a true protector, this shield is more than just armor; it is a vigilant companion, ever watchful and ready to defend. Whether standing on the front lines of a fierce battle or quietly guarding its bearer, the Aegis of the Devoted promises unwavering defense and steadfast loyalty, a lasting legacy of Hux's Desire to always be there to help.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
