This small and thin black leather tome has no writing of any kind on its exterior. Instead the spine and edging is covered in arcane symbols of all the schools of magic. The pages of the tome leak a faint black mist that vanishes when exposed to bright light.

Any creature capable of casting spells can spend an action to attempt to read this book. When they do so they must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 10), on a success they instantly regain expended spell slots totalling no more than half their level and can swap one of their known or prepared spells for another spell on their list. On a failure they take 11 (2d10) psychic damage and their alignment shifts one step towards Chaotic Evil, this change lasts until they finish a long rest.

Each time this book is read successfully the DC permanently increases by 1.
