Only the most skilled practitioners of alchemy and enchantments are capable of utilizing the refined residuum gathered from aetheryte. The greenish powder must be distilled with the leaves of a delicate lunar orchid, producing an opalescent blue liquid that seems to hum if you hold its vial near your ear.
This potion restores 2d4+1 spent spell slots to a spellcaster. These spell slots are restored from the lowest level used to highest (it first replenishes any spent first level slots, then any spent second level slots, and so on). If the caster would regain more spell slots than they have spent, they suffer from an overwhelming arcane force that surges through their body in addition to regaining the spent spell slots. If the caster regains 5 or more spell slots, they must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or suffer 1 level of Exhaustion. Any spell slots gained beyond the caster's maximum allotment are lost.
A character cannot gain this benefit more than once between long rests, as the process of mental expansion greatly fatigues the imbiber. Should a character drink another potion before they have had sufficient rest results in 2d10 psychic damage, with no spell slots regained.
In addition, the caster must roll 1d6 and consult the following table to see what additional effects the potion has.
| 1d6 | Effect (Lasts 1d4 Hours) |
|---|---|
| 1 | The character immediately suffers 1 level of Exhaustion |
| 2 | The character experiences uncontrollable tremors or tics, which impose disadvantage on Strength and Dexterity checks. |
| 3-4 | The character experiences no ill-effects. |
| 5 | Plant life temporarily grows around the character: until the effects end, the ground within 10 feet of them is considered difficult terrain. |
| 6 | The character regains one additional expended spell slot at the lowest available level. |
