Weapon (longsword), artifact

Anubis is a sword of very ornate appearance, with a long curved blade and a somewhat rectangular guard. It's sheath is black with 3 pearls near the top and a gold trim.

Bound For Life

Whenever someone picks up Anubis, it immediately links to them. Anyone else who attempts to unsheathe the sword or use it will be unable to and must succeed a Constitution Saving throw of DC 14 or take 2d4 Slashing + 1d6 Necrotic damage. The only way for Anubis to be unbound from its user is for the user to die. The person that Anubis is bound to will believe themselves to be the sole user of Anubis, though this is obviously not the case.

Cursed Sword

Anubis is a sentient sword with the capacity to completely control its wielder. At the DM's discretion, you must make a Wisdom Saving throw of DC 5 + The total number of enemies killed with Anubis while you've been wielding it. On a successful save, Anubis speaks to you, but you shrug of its effects. However, on a failed save, your alignment shifts to Chaotic Evil and you may only take a course of action that furthers Anubis' own agenda.

Expert Swordsman

When you first pick up Anubis, it will tell you that you are an expert swordsman. You are now proficient with Anubis if you weren't already proficient with Longswords. While Wielding Anubis you have a +3 to hit and damage. Anubis deals 1d8(1d10) slashing damage + 2d10 Necrotic damage.

Not Just Any Sword

Anubis is not just a sword, it is the soul of the god of the dead trapped in an object. 5 charges per long rest, when you make the attack action with Anubis, you may use your reaction to spend a charge to make the target's AC 10. This effect includes the AC bonus received by half and three-quarters cover. This feature can also be used to ignore full cover. However, to ignore full cover and to set the target's AC to 10 costs two charges.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.

Notes: Versatile, Sap
