The Axe of Nullification, also known as Mana Reaver, is a fearsome battleaxe with a head forged from a dark, metallic alloy that seems to absorb light. Etched along the blade are symbols of arcane negation, and the haft is wrapped in black leather, worn smooth by countless battles. When wielded, the axe emits a faint, eerie hum, growing louder as it interacts with magical energies.
Properties:
-
+1 to Hit and Damage: This weapon grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.
-
Limited Absorption: The Axe of Nullification can absorb up to 30 points of magical damage per day. This absorption is divided into 3 uses. The wielder can choose how much damage to absorb with each use, as long as the total absorbed damage does not exceed 30 points per day. The axe’s nullifying power resets at dawn.
-
Weaker Reflection: When the axe absorbs magical damage, it channels a portion of that energy into its next attack. The wielder gains a bonus to their next successful melee attack equal to 25% of the total absorbed damage (rounded down), dealing it as additional force damage.
Crafted by the renowned magical weapon researcher Ellowen Farron on the island of Ardent Cove, the Axe of Nullification was forged using the rare crystal Tirumite. This unique mineral was treated with a special mushroom salve and inscribed with intricate runes, harnessing Tirumite's powerful magical battery properties. Through Farron's expertise, the axe was imbued with the ability to absorb and redirect arcane energy, making it a formidable tool against spellcasters.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
