Enchanted Runelock Rifle: Arcane Fusillade

Description: The Arcane Fusillade is a masterfully crafted matchlock rifle enhanced with ancient runic magic. It seamlessly blends the elegance of traditional firearms with the raw power of arcane spells, making it a formidable weapon for any spellcaster or arcane marksman.

Appearance:

  • Material: The rifle is made from a dark, polished wood inlaid with silver and gold runes that glow faintly when the weapon is charged with magic.
  • Barrel: The barrel is forged from a shimmering, enchanted steel that can channel magical energy.
  • Stock: The stock is engraved with intricate runes and symbols, providing both aesthetic beauty and functional enhancement.
  • Length: Approximately 4 feet long, with a lightweight yet sturdy build that makes it easy to handle.

Abilities and Features:

1. Arcane Ammunition:

  • Description: The Arcane Fusillade does not require traditional ammunition. Instead, it channels raw magical energy into its shots.
  • Effect: As a bonus action, the wielder can infuse the rifle with arcane energy, allowing it to shoot bolts of raw magic. These bolts deal 2d8 force damage on a hit. The wielder can choose the damage type (force, fire, cold, lightning, acid, or poison) when infusing the rifle.

2. Spell Shot:

  • Description: The rifle can channel and shoot magical spells, turning the wielder's spells into potent ranged attacks.
  • Effect: The wielder can cast a spell of 1st to 5th level through the rifle as if it had a range of 120 feet. The spell requires an attack roll instead of its usual saving throw, and if it hits, it deals an additional 1d6 damage of the spell's type. The wielder must expend a spell slot of the appropriate level to use this ability.

3. Runic Overload:

  • Description: The rifle can be overloaded with magical energy to unleash a devastating attack.
  • Effect: As an action, the wielder can overload the rifle with magical energy, causing it to fire a powerful blast. All creatures in a 30-foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + spellcasting ability modifier). On a failed save, creatures take 6d6 damage of a type chosen by the wielder (force, fire, cold, lightning, acid, or poison) and are knocked back 10 feet. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not knocked back. This ability can be used once per long rest.

4. Runic Shield:

  • Description: The rifle's runes can project a protective barrier around the wielder.
  • Effect: As a reaction, the wielder can activate the runes to create a magical shield, granting a +2 bonus to AC and resistance to all damage types until the start of the wielder's next turn. This ability can be used a number of times equal to the wielder's proficiency bonus per long rest.

5. Elemental Infusion:

  • Description: The rifle can be infused with elemental runes to alter its damage type.
  • Effect: As a bonus action, the wielder can choose to infuse the rifle with a specific elemental rune, changing the damage type of the Arcane Ammunition to fire, cold, lightning, acid, or poison for 1 hour. The wielder can switch between elements as a bonus action.

Attunement: The Arcane Fusillade requires attunement by a character with proficiency in arcana or firearms. The rifle’s full potential can only be unlocked by those who have a deep understanding of magical runes and firearms.

Lore: The Arcane Fusillade is said to have been crafted by an ancient order of rune sages who sought to combine the precision of firearms with the destructive power of arcane magic. The rifle’s runes were inscribed with the essence of elemental spirits, granting it the ability to channel and unleash powerful spells with deadly accuracy.
