This vile device is used by many Psychomancers from the Necron Empire. Using psycho-interrogative transoptic projectors, the Atavindicator manifests the deepest fears of an unfortunate test subject.

Except if the creature attuning to it is a Warforged or a similar robotic being, a creature takes 1d12 piercing damage as the Atavindicator latches onto its back. A non-robotic being trying to remove it takes these damages again. This magical device has 5 charges. As an action, you can make up to two creatures make a DD15 Wisdom save or take 2d8 psychic damage and be frightened for 1 minute, or half the damage without being frightened on a success. Whether the effect succeeds or fails, make a DD9 + 5 per affected creature Wisdom save or take 1d4 psychic damage per affected creature. The Atavindicator regains 1d4 + 1 charges daily at dawn. Alternatively, at any moment, you can reduce your hit point maximum by 1d4 + 1, the Atavindicator regains an equal amount of charges. This hit point reduction lasts until you complete a long rest.
