AC Bonus: +2
-
Protective Throw: As a bonus action, the wielder can throw the shield to intercept an attack targeting an ally within 30 feet. When used this way, the shield grants the target +2 AC until the start of the wielder’s next turn. The shield immediately returns to the wielder’s hand. This ability can be used once per round.
-
Shield of the Guardian: Once per short rest, the wielder can throw the shield to create a protective aura around an ally within 60 feet. The shield hovers near the ally, granting them half cover (+2 AC) and resistance to all damage for 1 minute. The shield returns to the wielder’s hand after this effect ends.
-
Resonant Defense: As a reaction, when an ally within 30 feet takes damage, the wielder can command the shield to transfer half of the damage to them instead (rounded down). After using this ability, the wielder cannot use the shield’s AC bonus until the start of their next turn, as it momentarily absorbs the shock.
-
Cracked Guardian: Each time the shield absorbs damage through Resonant Defense, its cracks deepen, reducing its AC bonus by 1 (to a minimum of +0). The cracks can be mended with a Lesser Restoration spell or repaired during a long rest.
