Astraphyllite, also known as Astral Silver is a pure silver metal with faint purple hue that is found in the Astral plane. Forged from the coalescing of thoughts and identities among the psychic storms of the astral plane, this metal is shaped by the nonstop barrage of minds and psychic battering that warred so furiously that it shaped and tempered the metal into a physical form, burning off any impurities that could be affected by the psychic winds leaving only the pure and refined metal behind. Due to it being created into a physical material from harsh conditions until it was purified enough to resist such effects, almost all Astraphyllite can be found within psychic winds and storm.
Items made from Astraphyllite possess an mind shielding effect from forceful external psychic energy, while channeling and amplifying the psychic fortitude of the wearer by evoking their thoughts. Weapons made from Astraphyllite can cause channeled psychic shrieks and constant muted whispers to be heard in a target when focused on by the wielder, often causing slight disorientation, or damage and occasionally confusion.
Astraphyllite has a calming effect on creatures with manic and mentally stressed conditions, such as volatile personalities and chaotic mannerisms. While not removing effects such as mental illness, items made from the metal can help alleviate the more extreme effects for individuals and help give a level of mental clarity.
Small amounts of Astraphyllite can be used with other metals to make weapons, and are often incorporated into Githyanki Silver Swords to increase their effects.
Notes: Must be attuned to through meditation and channeling thoughts into items made of the material.
