The tattoo covers the upper body of the character, in humanoid creatures this would be the upper torso, covering the chest area.
The design of the tattoo depicts geometrical patterns that form an interlocking shield plate. In the middle of the pattern is the depiction of a symbol that belongs to the Paladin's god. The tattoo, has a bright silvery and golden hue.
As a bonus action the Paladin can throw their shield as a ranged attack roll (+CHA to attack). On a successful attack the shield will do 2d4+4 damage to an enemy up to 60 ft away. On the end of the turn the shield will return to the hand of the Paladin.
The tattoo has three charges that recharge each dawn.
