This amulet bears the likeness of a crescent moon shrouded in swirling mists, its center set with a dark, opalescent stone that seems to hold a fragment of the night sky. When worn around the neck, the amulet's surface subtly pulses with a deep, purple light, reminiscent of twilight, as if drawing the power of Nyx herself. It serves as a holy symbol, allowing its wearer to channel the goddess's divine power.
Properties:
- Holy Symbol: The Amulet of Nyx functions as a holy symbol for spellcasting and other features that require a holy symbol. It grants a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and the saving throw DCs of cleric spells
- Shroud of Night: The Amulet's true power lies in its ability to protect its wearer from the sun’s burning rays. When attuned and worn by a vampire or a dhampir, it nullifies their natural weakness to sunlight, allowing them to walk freely in daylight without suffering the usual penalties or damage. The wearer no longer suffers from Sunlight Sensitivity or the Sunlight Hypersensitivity trait.
- Twilight’s Blessing (1/Day): As an action, the wearer can invoke the power of Nyx to cloak themselves in shadows, gaining the effects of greater invisibility for up to 10 minutes. During this time, they emit an aura of twilight that extends in a 10-foot radius around them, which provides dim light to allies and imposes disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to see the wearer. This ability recharges at dusk.
- Vampiric Replenishment: If the wearer of the amulet is a vampire, once per long rest, they may use the amulet to heal themselves for 2d8 + their Constitution modifier when they succeed in making a bite attack against a living creature. The life essence absorbed is stored in the stone at the amulet's center, causing it to glow faintly for a short time.
Curse:
Nyx’s blessings do not come without cost. If the wearer strays too far from the principles of night and shadow, the amulet turns against them. If the wearer commits an act that would anger Nyx (such as wanton destruction of a place dedicated to darkness or alignment with a god of daylight), they must succeed on a DC 18 Charisma saving throw or lose the amulet’s benefits until they atone. Nyx might demand an offering or task to restore her favor
