Armor (chain mail or chain shirt), rare
You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class while you wear this armor. You are considered trained with this armor even if you lack training with Medium or Heavy armor.
Armor | Armor Class (AC) | Strength | Stealth |
---|---|---|---|
Elven Chain Shirt | 13 + Dex modifier (max 2) | - | - |
Elven Chain Mail | 16 | Str 13 | Disadvantage |
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Proficiency: Self
this item isn't coded properly, it detracts from movement -10 speed when used on a rogue, it needs to be coded properly.
Nothing in its description takes away from the STR requirement. Your rogue probably has STR below 13, hence the -10 movement.
Are you using the Elven Chain Mail or the Elven Chain Shirt? If it's the Chain Mail then it's likely what someone else mentioned, that you don't meet the strength requirement.
I'm a bit confused about this. I always understood this as giving a +1 to whatever your AC is otherwise like it says in the description. But today I noticed that my wizard suddenly has AC 15, because the character sheet adds the 13 base AC from the normal chain shirt and then adds DEX and the magical +1 bonus.
Is the new Chain Shirt bugged or have I been playing with this wrong all the time?
It's always been that way that its base 13 + Dex (Max of 2) + 1 magical bonus. It's still a chain shirt so it uses that as its AC calculation. It's just saying it adds +1 to your AC since that's its magical property. So, if your wizard has a Dex mod of 1, that's why its showing 15, otherwise it would be 16 max AC with the medium armor version of elven chain.
