Armor (chain mail), uncommon

Forged from polished iron and crafted to resemble a humanoid metal form, the Armor of the Heartless Knight is a suit of plate-like armor that gleams with an almost mirror-like quality. Inspired by the fabled Tin Man, it clanks and creaks with each movement, earning it its distinct reputation. The armor's chest plate has an empty heart-shaped cavity, symbolizing both a lack of emotion and a hardened resolve in battle.

Magical Properties

  1. Heart of Iron: The Heartless Knight gains resistance to charm effects while wearing this armor. Additionally, they cannot be magically compelled to act against their will.

  2. Steely Fortitude: Once per short rest, you can use a bonus action to activate Steely Fortitude. For the next minute, you gain temporary hit points equal to your fighter level + Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).

  3. Weight of the Unfeeling: As a consequence of its structure, the armor imposes disadvantage on all Stealth checks, and it creaks noticeably when the wearer moves. However, the imposing sound can also intimidate. When moving within 10 feet of an enemy, you can use a reaction to force them to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, the enemy is frightened until the end of their next turn.

Made of interlocking metal rings, chain mail includes a layer of quilted fabric worn underneath the mail to prevent chafing and to cushion the impact of blows. The suit includes gauntlets.
