Armor (shield), artifact (requires attunement by a Must be attuned to a Cleric who is proficient in Heavy Armor or a Paladin)

The Aegis of the North Star is a radiant shield crafted from silver-etched mithril and adorned with sacred inscriptions that glow faintly with a holy light. Its surface reflects a flawless, mirror-like finish, with divine symbols etched in an unknown celestial language.

While holding this Shield, you have a bonus to Armor Class determined by the Shield’s rarity, in addition to the Shield’s normal bonus to AC.

Star Bright, Starlight. While attuned to the shield, you gain the following benefits:

The Northern Lights. The Aegis of the North Star sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. You can choose to suppress this light as a bonus action.

Star's Protection. When an ally within 30 feet is hit by an attack, you can use a Reaction to project a spectral shield of holy energy around them, granting them +5 to AC. This reaction can cause that attack to miss. The bonus lasts until the start of your next turn, and while that bonus is conferred to an ally, you lose +5 AC.

Star Power. While attuned to the Aegis of the North Star, the range of your emanations created by Paladin features is doubled.

Star Child. Resistance to Radiant and Fire damage.

Mithril Armament. While holding the shield, you can take a Magic action to surround yourself in spectral light for 1 hour. The light forms a cloak which disguises your armor, weapons and shield as simple farmer's clothing, and removes any penalties for wearing Heavy Armor.

Conjure Owl Familiar. While holding the shield, you can cast the Find Familiar spell. You can only choose an owl, which appears as a snow white owl that responds to the name "Auril".

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
