When adorned, the wearer is frozen in cryostasis in a large pillar of clear ice. The ice can be melted using fire and heat or chipped away. Anyone who puts the necklace on is flash frozen, but still alive. The ice will melt at normal temperature in about two hours. It can sustain 40 points of damage before breaking. Freed inhabitants must have the necklace removed within twenty seconds or they will flash freeze again.
