Aether

This silver chain holds a circular medallion engraved with the image of a radiant shield. The medallion radiates a faint golden glow when near cursed objects, deceptions, or dark magic. Forged by ancient clerics, it was imbued with sacred power to aid champions of virtue in their fight against malevolent forces.

Aura of Curse Protection.
You can invoke the medallion’s sacred energy to remove a curse from an object or creature you touch. To activate this ability, you must sacrifice 5 points from your Lay on Hands pool.

Vigilance Against Deception.
You can use the medallion’s power to gain advantage on a Perception (Wisdom) or Insight (Wisdom) check when attempting to detect lies, illusions, or disguised creatures. You must declare the use before rolling the check. This ability only functions while you uphold the tenets of your Paladin Oath.

Shielding Light.
As a bonus action, you can activate the medallion to emit a radiant aura of light for 1 minute. The aura extends 10 feet around you and grants resistance to cold, necrotic and psychic damage to you and your allies within range. 

Restrictions

Virtuous Commitment.
If you break the tenets of your Paladin Oath, the medallion loses all its magical properties until you perform a one-hour ritual of atonement.

Exclusive Devotion.
While attuned to this item, you cannot gain the benefits of another magic item that provides additional protective benefits, such as a Ring of Protection.

Energy Drain.
If you use all the medallion’s charges in a single day, you gain 1 level of exhaustion as its divine energy takes a toll on your body.
