The Arcane Communicator has several functions, powered by magical energy. It has a total of 3 charges, and it regains all charges at dawn. A spellcaster can spend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to recharge the device (1st level spell slot for 1 charge) as an action. Most features function only if both users possess an Arcane Communicator or are connected to the shared magical network of Aldreach.
Communication Features:
- Arcane Call (1 charge). You can use the communicator to speak with another Arcane Communicator user up to 10 miles away. If within range, you establish a magical connection that allows for two-way verbal communication for up to 5 minutes.
- Message Scroll (1 charge). You can send a brief written message (up to 100 words) to another Communicator. The recipient's device emits a faint chime when the message is received. Messages sent beyond the 10-mile range are delayed until the recipient is within range again.
- Illusory Projection (2 charges). You can cast a short-range illusory image of yourself (like the Major Image spell), appearing to another Communicator user within 10 miles. The projection lasts for up to 1 minute or until you stop concentrating (no action required).
