Forged in the Frostpeak Mountains of Aetheron by the master craftsmen of the Ironvein Clan, the Arm-Crossbow of Versatility is an unparalleled masterpiece of engineering and arcane artistry. The Ironvein Clan, famed throughout Aetheron for their innovative designs, are known to imbue their creations with both functionality and beauty, ensuring their tools are as enduring as the mountains they call home.
The crossbow is built from the finest mithral, reinforced with adamantine supports to endure the strain of its adaptable mechanisms. Its adjustable axle system allows it to bend seamlessly with the user’s arm, ensuring precision and stability regardless of movement. Dwarven runes, etched with meticulous care and enchanted with ancient Frostpeak magic, power its resizing mechanism and imbue it with the ability to launch Tiny or Small creatures alongside standard projectiles.
The weapon’s origins can be traced back to the Siege of Durnthall, where dwarven engineers of the Ironvein Clan created specialized tools for repositioning familiars and smaller allies during battle. While originally designed for tactical utility in the tight quarters of mountain strongholds, its fame grew, spreading to surface dwellers who marveled at its versatility in both combat and exploration.
Lore
The Ironvein Clan, who hail from the icy peaks and treacherous cliffs of the Frostpeak Mountains, are a society of dwarves dedicated to innovation and perseverance. Known as "The Forges of Frost", their workshops remain active even in the coldest winters, using geothermal energy from the mountain’s heart to fuel their forges.
Their designs are as harsh and reliable as their environment. Each weapon, tool, or device crafted by the Ironvein Clan carries a mark of their heritage: a stylized vein of ore surrounded by an angular mountain sigil. To wield one of their creations is to carry a piece of the Frostpeak Mountains into battle. The Arm-Crossbow of Versatility is a shining example of their philosophy: practicality melded seamlessly with artistry.
Only a handful of these crossbows were ever made, each commissioned for dwarven tacticians and adventurers of renown. Owning one is a sign of immense respect or lineage to Aetheron's dwarven culture, for the Ironvein Clan only entrusts their creations to those they deem worthy of their legacy.
