Savras, the since humbled god of foresight, was once a god of great power before his defeat. At the height of his power, countless wizards would look to him for knowledge of life's most greatest answers before their allotted time. At the height of their requests was knowledge of their own demise. To abet these endless pleas, he foresaw the creation of an artifact to combat the hubris of mortals. Though the orb holds absolute truth, and is still sought by scholars of all ages, it is far from a treasure.
Attuning to this orb gives you an overwhelming sinking feeling, followed by a spine chilling sense of impending doom.
Random Properties. The artifact has the following random properties, which you can determine by rolling on the tables in the “Artifacts” section of the Dungeon Master’s Guide:
- 2 minor beneficial properties
- 1 minor detrimental property
- 1 major detrimental property
Mortal Foresight. While attuned to the orb and touching it with bare flesh, you can spend 1 minute to activate its sole purpose. You learn the exact nature of your death, as well as the moment it will occur. Until the time arrives, you cannot drop below 0 Hit Points by any means other than the intervention of a god. In addition, you benefit from the properties of the foresight spell.
Curse. This artifact is cursed. Upon use, your death will inevitably occur within the next 7 (1d12 + 1) hours. Nothing other than the intervention of a god can interrupt your death, or bring you back to life once you have died. The afterlife you are granted is ultimately determined by the DM.
Destroying the Orb. The orb cannot truly be destroyed until the last mortal life is snuffed at the end of time. However, plunging the orb into the River Styx causes it to become inert for 69 years..
Notes: living creature, Cursed, divination
