This intricate wrist-mounted device resembles a bracer made of braided steel and leather, with a sleek, retractable harpoon mounted on the top. Faint runes glow along its edge, powered by an arcane energy core. When activated, the harpoon shoots out on a fine chain, piercing and latching onto creatures or objects with precision.
Properties:
- Harpoon Shot. As an action, you can target a creature or object within 60 feet and fire the bracer’s harpoon. Make a ranged attack roll using your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a hit, the harpoon deals 1d6+3 piercing damage and grapples the target.
- Escape DC: The target can escape the grapple by succeeding on a Strength (Athletics) check against the DC (see table below).
- Pull DC: If you are grappling a creature, you can use your action to attempt to pull it toward you. The target must make a Strength saving throw against the DC, depending on its size (see table). On a failed save, the target is pulled 20 feet closer to you.
Grappling Mechanics:
-
Small Creature: Escape DC 16, Pull DC 10
-
Medium Creature: Escape DC 14, Pull DC 12
-
Large Creature: Escape DC 13, Pull DC 14
-
Huge or larger creatures cannot be grappled by this device.
-
Tug of War. If a creature attempts to pull you instead, you must make a Strength saving throw against the Pull DC of the creature. On a failed save, you are pulled 15 feet toward the creature.
Special Features:
- Reload. After firing, the harpoon retracts automatically at the end of your turn unless it remains attached to a target.
- Durable Chain. The chain is immune to nonmagical slashing damage.
Proficiency with a Spear allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
