The hard metal surface seems to bend and flex with the movements of the wearer, despite being hard enough to turn the sharpest of blades. Designed to protect the most powerful of spellcasters, this breastplate comes to life when magic is in the air around it. When required, the armor can project these protections around the wearer by borrowing some energy from that wearer.
As a bonus action, the wearer of this armor can expend a spell slot to increase their AC by their spellcasting modifier until the end of their next turn. There is no added benefit to expending larger spell slots upon this armor.
When the wearer of this armor fails a saving throw against any effect that would move, shove, topple or trip them, they may choose to expend a reaction and a spell slot of any level to succeed instead.
This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
