Weapon (shortsword), very rare (requires attunement by a Delver of The Never Ending Dungeon)

Amygdala is a double-edged shortsword approximately 3 ft. in length. The blade resembles a faint, medium purple Damascus pattern, and appears to slowly swirl over the course of multiple hours. The hilt, guard and tang are one piece, and are coated in sparse, faint pinksh-blue symbols of unknown meaning. The handle is wrapped in a strange leather that can be identified as Illithid flesh. The Origin of this weapon is unclear, but its singular purpose appears to be to slay Mind Flayers and their thralls.

Properties:

  • Mind-Spear: Attacks with Amygdala ignore resistance to psychic damage, and treat immunity as resistance.

  • Chosen Quarry: At Bond Level 1, you have an additional +1 on attack rolls, Damage Rolls, Saving Throws, and Attacks Against Aberrations.

  • Sentience:
    • Amygdala is a Lawful Neutral Shortsword. (Intelligence 20, Wisdom 16, Charisma 12).
    • It can communicate with creatures within 30 ft. through telepathy once it has reached Bond Level 2. Until then it can only communicate with its wielder.
    • It has blindsight up to 15 ft, and once it has reached Bond Level 4 this becomes truesight.
  • Personality:
    • Amygdala is nervous, very slow to trust, and will not even speak until it has reached Bond Level 1. When it speaks, Amygdala speaks with the voice of a young elven woman, though it has no preference for pronouns and will be content with She or It.
    • As it's bond increases with it's wielder, it becomes more friendly, and will begin to offer advice, and even begin to make jokes and wise cracks with the party.
    • Amygdala's creation is a touchy subject for it, and it will adamantly avoid any questions of it's history until Bond Level 3.
  • Bond Level:
    • As Amygdala is used by it's wielder, it begins to trust and grow with them. Every three levels (Or if a significant amount of time has passed), if the wielder has not given Amygdala reason to distrust them (Consorting with illithids, rampant unnecessary murder or if she is mistreated), she will gain a level of bonding with her wielder. Levels of bonding can be lost through the conditions about if they become consistent. Effects of levels of bonding can be seen below.
      • Level 0:
        • Amygdala has just met you.
        • Amygdala acts like a regular shortsword, albeit with a faint magical aura. It is not considered magical while in this state.
      • Level 1:
        • Amygdala recognizes you as an acquaintance.
        • It will begin speaking to you, and is considered a magic weapon for purposes of overcoming damage resistance.
