Atlas MK-I... the mechanical armor pulses and grinds with a mixture of weave magic and technological ingenuity. Most on the Material Plane would fail to grasp the intricacies of even this basic model of Mechanian armor, though experienced smiths will recognize the quality of the equipment. It is, however, simple in nature. As a MK-I prototype, the armor is stripped to its fundamentals and left open to various upgrade modules. The Atlas model of armor was abandoned soon after its creation, and only instances of them and their wielders are believed to have been deemed inferior and thusly destroyed. However, one such pilot survived, with her armor intact and her life spared.
Sentience. Atlas MK-I Mech Armor is a sentient magic item with an Intelligence of 14 a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 10. It has hearing and Blindsight out to a range of 30 feet and grants those attributes to you while worn and attuned to. The weapon can speak, read, and understand Common, and can communicate with its wielder telepathically. Its voice is refined and soothing, though in the case of Phyla's, is notably snarky.
Personality. Though Atlas MK-I Mech Armor models typically lack personalities, Phyla's has been heavily modified, adopting a personality best suited to banter with its wearer. Affectionately coined "Atlas", the armor is sassy and slightly short-tempered but will act indisputably in what it perceives as Phyla's best interest.
Modal Variety. When you roll initiative, and at the start of each round of combat, you can use your reaction to change the armor model of your Arcane Armor. If you do, you gain the following benefit, depending on which armor model you switched to:
- Dreadnaught: When you switch to this armor mode, you can immediately make a Melee weapon attack with your Armor Flail against one creature you can see within range.
- Guardian: For the rest of this round, you gain a +2 bonus to your Armor Class.
- Infiltrator: When you switch to this armor mode, you can cast Fog Cloud at 1st level centered on a point within 10 feet of you, except you, without expending a spell slot. If you do, immediately after the spell is cast, you can take the Hide action. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
