A mysterious rifle that seems to show up throughout time and space with the multiversal detective Aldi. The exact abilities of the rifle seem to change depending on the setting. While the sharpshot may look like a gun, it's actually just a spellcasting focus, and so technically counts as a staff.
In this timeline, its abilities are as follows:
Spatial Scope - The sharpshot's unique scope seems to distort and shrink the space between you and the target. When you cast any spell that requires an attack roll, its range is doubled, to a maximum of 600 feet. If shooting in low light conditions, the range is either double the spell's range or double your darkvision (whichever is smaller).
Focus Shot - The sharpshot's barrel allows you to combine multiple different projectiles into a single, more powerful, focused shot. When you roll damage for a focus shot, roll all of the damage dice separately, and then add a number equal to the original number of projectiles. For example, a 5th level warlock casting a focused eldritch blast would roll 2d10 + 2 for damage.
Stopping Power - The powerful magical energy of a focused shot is capable of piercing many obstacles. When you're within the spell's normal range, you ignore 1/2 cover, when within a quarter of the spell's normal range, you ignore 3/4 cover, and when within an eighth of the spell's range, you ignore full cover (provided you know that they're there). For every level of cover that you would pierce that the enemy is missing, add 1 to your damage. For example, a 5th level warlock with eldritch spear casting a focused eldritch blast would ignore 1/2 cover within 300 feet, 3/4 cover within 75 feet and full cover within 37 feet.
If they shoot from 75 feet, they can pierce 3/4 cover. If their enemy is behind 1/2 cover, they would add a +1 to their damage. If their enemy has no cover, they would add a +2.
Temporal Instability - Because of the spatial distortion of the sharpshot's scope, it becomes harder to predict when shots over long ranges will land. When you roll to hit with anything other than a Focus Shot, subtract one from the result for every 50 feet (rounded to the nearest 50) you are above the spell's normal range. For example, a 5th level warlock with eldritch spear casting eldritch blast from 300 feet wouldn't incur any penalty. The same warlock casting from 350 feet would subtract 1 from their hit roll. From 400 feet they would subtract 2, and so on. At 600 feet, they would subtract 6 from every roll to hit.
Aim Down Sight - Aiming through a scope makes it difficult to track enemies at close range, and not using the scope reduces your accuracy. When you use a Focus Shot from within 30 feet of your target, subtract 1 from the roll to hit for every 10 feet closer to your enemy you are. For example, at 20 feet away, you have a -1 to hit. At 10 feet you have a -2, and at point blank, you have a -3 to hit in addition to the normal close range penalties.
Low Profile - Because of its spatial distortion, the sharpshot can be carried in a seemingly impossibly small briefcase. While in the briefcase, it imposes no movement penalties on the user. On your action, you can use a bonus action to pack or unpack it from the briefcase. While unloaded, you lose 10 feet of movement for every 30 feet of speed. For example, someone with 30 feet of movement would only be able to move 20 feet on their turn, or they could spend a bonus action to pack it up and move the full 30 feet.
Proficiency with a Staff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
