When found, appears as a small buckler apparently made of numerous gears, intricately and constantly moving while being worn. The moving gears make no noise. While not being attuned to the shield, wearer gains +1 to AC. After being attuned, wearer gains +2 to AC and learns the verbal commands to achieve the following effects:
PARAGON: the gears of the shield whirl and unfold becoming a tower shield that gives the benefit of +4 AC versus melee attacks and nullifies any ranged attack from the front arc of the wielder. Keep track of damage dealt from ranged weapons, spells, and breath weapons. Paragon lasts for one minute or until it takes 70 damage. Once damage limit has been reached, paragon cannot be used again until after a long rest. A long rest resets Paragon's damage limit.
BASTION: The shields gears whirl and twirl, unfolding to become a shield wall 10 foot tall by 20 foot long. If it contacts solid material (i.e. walls, ceilings and floors), the shield embeds and becomes part of the structure. Bastion remains in place for 10 minutes or until it takes 70 damage. The wielder can catch glimpses through the shield with a successful perception check (DC 12). All other creatures have their views blocked Wielder knows the hit points of the Bastion. When maximum damage is taken, Bastion reverts to it's normal size and cannot be used until after a long rest. A long rest resets the damage limit.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: Must trace the gears of the shield from beginning to its end. (Takes a minimum of three hours)
