Animated Switch of "Stop It!"
Weapon (club), uncommon
Crafted by a cabal of magical artisans inspired by mothers throughout history, this enchanted switch has been imbued with the timeless power of maternal correction. Elegant yet unyielding, the switch seems to channel centuries of exasperated patience and stern discipline.
Properties:
- Stop It! Smack: When a creature within 30 feet of you does something profoundly foolish or reckless, the switch can be used to deliver a swift, magical correction. As a reaction, you may command the switch to magically strike the offender on the rear end. The creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15) or take 1 point of bludgeoning damage as the switch delivers its maternal reprimand. This damage cannot be avoided or reduced in any way.
- The Look: The switch radiates the energy of disapproval. A creature struck by the switch has disadvantage on Charisma (Deception) checks and Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) checks until the end of its next turn as they feel the invisible weight of judgment upon them.
Motherly Personality:
The switch seems to have inherited the spirit of mothers throughout history. Occasionally, it will quiver in your hand or make a faint clucking sound when it "disapproves" of something. It may even emit phrases like "Were you raised in a barn?" or "What were you thinking?" in Common when activated.
Special: If the wielder uses the switch to correct a genuine moment of foolishness or to teach a valuable lesson, the switch glows softly, as if in approval. However, if it is wielded unjustly or in malice, the switch grows cold and refuses to activate for the next 24 hours, embodying the timeless disappointment of mothers everywhere.
Proficiency with a Club allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
