Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement by a Mastery of the Razor is required. If the wielder is not a Razor master tries to use the weapon, they must roll a D20. On a natural 1 the razor will remove that arm. If they are training to master the razor, they roll the D20 with advantage.)

Description

The blade of the razor is made of an unknown material, and is as hard as diamond. The blade is over a meter long when in sword form, and can be toggled via a button into the form of a whip twice the length of the stiffened blade.

The shape of the razor's blade (longsword) can be altered through a chemical impulse delivered by a button on the hilt. This button is discoverable by a DC20 Intelligence (Investigation) check, or by inspecting the weapon over a short or long rest. When in whip form, its shape can be altered at will with a chemical impulse. As a result, the razor is an incredibly versatile weapon. The weapon is incredibly sharp.

Though it is meant to be worn on the belt, different generations of Razormasters have adopted different traditions for the carrying of a razor. It has been popularly worn as a sash, and more recently around the forearm.

The razor can take two forms:

Longsword - A roughly 4 foot stiff, flat blade that functions as a longsword

Whip - The razor loses it's stiffness, stretching to 8 feet and able to be manipulated like a whip. The razor can be used normally to make a whip attack, or if the target is within 5 feet the razor can be used to wrap around and attempt to grapple the target.

It can be used in its whip form to restrain and subdue an opponent by wrapping the whip around a limb or body part. If the opponent doesn't wish to lose that body part, they will usually submit and be taken/dragged to wherever the user wishes for as long as they are restrained. The enemy must make a DC 17 DEX saving throw to avoid becoming ensnared by the whip.

Changing forms:

You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.

As a bonus action, you can change this weapon's form to either a longsword or a whip. The effects of the weapon change depending on the form it takes.

When used as a longsword, the Razor has the following effects:

  • This longsword has the finesse property.

  • This sword deals 1d10 + your proficiency bonus of slashing damage, instead of 1d8.

  • When you take the Attack action with this weapon, you can make an additional attack.

When used as a whip, the Razor has the following effects:

  • This whip deals 1d6 + your proficiency bonus of slashing damage, instead of 1d4.

  • When you attack a creature with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, you cut off one of the creature's limbs at random. The creature dies if it can't survive without the lost body part. A creature is immune to this effect if it is immune to slashing damage, doesn't have limbs that can be removed, has legendary actions, or the GM decides that the creature is too big for its limbs to be cut off with this weapon. Such a creature instead takes an extra 4d6 slashing damage from the hit. To determine the severed body part, roll a d20:

1-6: Left arm

7-11: Right arm

12-15: Left leg

16-19: Right leg

20: Head

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Weapon Property: Finesse, Damage: Slashing, Weapon Mastery: Slow (Whip), Mastery of the Razor is required. If the wielder is not a Razor master tries to use the weapon, they must roll a D20. On a natural 1 the razor will remove that arm. If they are training to master the razor, they roll the D20 with advantage., Versatile, Sap
