Weapon (dagger), artifact (requires attunement by a Blade must drink of the blood of its creator or their blood line to attune to a new owner.)

Aether Blades are one of the oldest known magical blades, created from aetherium, or refined magical energy pulled directly from the plane of magic. Though the process had been lost aeons ago, some of the blades survive today, though it is highly unlikely that their true nature would be known, as attunement requires rather specific circumstances... In order to attune its full power to a new user, the blade must encounter the blood of its creator, or their bloodline, while in the hands of the new owner. Without proper attunement, only a small fraction of a blades powers are ever revealed.

All Aether blades share the same general properties.

They each have 5 minor powers and 2 major powers, only usable once full attunement is acheived.

Without full attunement, the blades act as +1 vicious blades of Mage slaying. On a critical hit, the blade does an additional 7 points of force damage, and against any creature with the ability to cast arcane spells, the critical range is increased to 18-20.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
