A strange and living artifact, this amulet appears as a shifting mass of polished, organic metal shaped into the form of a closed eye. A thin, nearly invisible slit runs across its surface, only parting when its hunger is sated. Bound by an unknown magic, it is both a mimic and a dimensional vault, existing in a paradox between predator and storage.

Sentience & Nature

The Amulet of the Devouring Vault is a sentient mimic, possessing a mischievous but fiercely loyal personality. It communicates with its wearer through small vibrations and clicks, though it can form simple telepathic messages when necessary. The amulet enjoys being fed, though it cannot digest anything placed within it unless given permission.

Properties

• Living Vault: The amulet functions as a Bag of Holding, capable of storing up to 500 pounds of material, not exceeding a volume of 64 cubic feet. The interior space exists in an extra-dimensional pocket, and retrieving an item requires a conscious thought, causing the amulet to "spit" the object into the wearer's hand.
• Mimic’s Maw: As a bonus action, the wearer may command the amulet to devour a single nonmagical item placed into it, destroying it forever. The amulet digests anything organic or inorganic, provided it is smaller than 2 cubic feet. Once per long rest, feeding it at least one pound of material grants the wearer advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks as the amulet shifts its coloration to blend into its surroundings.
• Latch & Bite: If removed unwillingly, the amulet bites down, requiring a DC 15 Strength check to pry free. It may also bite a creature that attempts to steal it, dealing 1d8 piercing damage.

Cursed Property

• Hunger Beyond Control: If the amulet is left unfed for 7 consecutive days, it will begin consuming stored items at random, digesting one per day until sated. If completely emptied, it may attempt to consume small bits of the wearer’s clothing, coin purse, or even a finger if left unchecked.
