This magical apparatus consists of an array of enchanted conduits and focusing crystals mounted along the side of a ship. When a spellcaster attuned to the conduit casts a ranged spell, they can use the ship’s Arcane Broadside Conduit to unleash their magic in a more devastating or wide-reaching manner.
-
Spell Channeling: When casting a spell with a range of at least 30 feet, the caster can choose to channel it through the conduit. The spell's range is increased to 500 feet, and its area of effect (if applicable) can be doubled in size. If the spell requires a single target, the conduit can split the magic, allowing it to target up to three creatures within 30 feet of each other.
-
Overcharged Barrage: Once per long rest, a spellcaster can overcharge the conduit to amplify a spell’s power. When doing so, the spell deals an additional 2d10 force damage and gains the Siege property, dealing double damage to objects and structures.
-
Arcane Feedback: If a spell of 4th level or higher is cast through the conduit, roll a d20. On a 1-3, an arcane backlash occurs, causing the following effects:
- Magic Surge: The caster takes force damage equal to three times the spell’s level as raw magical energy violently rebounds.
- Mana Disruption: The conduit becomes overloaded and cannot be used for 10 minutes as it vents unstable magic.
- Wild Arcana: Roll on the Wild Magic Surge table (PHB p. 104) or create a localized surge effect of the DM’s choice. If the spellcaster is a Wild Magic Sorcerer, their Tides of Chaos feature is immediately triggered (if available).
