Weapon (crossbow, heavy), very rare (requires attunement)

This masterly crafted heavy crossbow is forged from high quality iron mixed with scales from a legendary sea serpent. It does not require ammunition, instead firing bolts of water when used. You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. In addition, whenever you make an attack with this weapon, you can choose to have it deal bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. Depending on the choice, you gain a benefit, as listed below:

Bludgeoning: When you choose to deal bludgeoning damage, the force of the blow can knock targets back. If the target is large or smaller, it must succeed on a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 10ft. away from you. 

Piercing: When you choose to deal piercing damage, the bolt is even deadlier than normal. You can roll an extra damage dice when determining the damage dealt to the target (2d10).

Slashing: When you choose to deal slashing damage, the target is covered in lacerations. Its movement speed is halved until the end of its next turn. 

Proficiency with a Heavy Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Push. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can push the creature up to 10 feet straight away from yourself if it is Large or smaller.
