Wondrous Item, rare
A polished crystal orb, about the size of a walnut, set in a band of woven silver. When attuned, it hums faintly in the user’s palm, radiating a soft glow when activated. Each Nexus is magically linked to a small network of other attuned Nexuses, allowing for aetheric communication across distances.
Properties:
- Arcane Call: The Nexus allows the user to mentally communicate with any other Nexus in their network within a range of 10 miles. This functions similarly to Sending but does not require spell slots. Only one person can be contacted at a time, and the conversation lasts for up to 1 minute before the connection fades.
- Group Whisper: Once per long rest, the user can establish a conference connection with up to three other Nexus users in the network. This link lasts for 5 minutes or until the user ends the connection.
- Etheric Reception: If a user attempts to call someone who is unconscious, in another plane, or has their Nexus disabled, they receive a static-like sensation instead of a successful connection.
- Interference: Strong magical interference (such as antimagic fields, storms of wild magic, or planar disruptions) can cause messages to be distorted, delayed, or lost entirely.
