Animated Shovel

This magically enchanted shovel digs holes on its own.  To use the animated shovel, describe the shape and size of the hole you wish to dig and the shovel will continue to dig at a rate of 4 cubic ft an hour until it either cannot dig through the material or it reaches the desired dimensions.  After completion, the shovel attempts to stick itself in the soil next to the hole and remains there until either retrieved or commanded to dig again.
